Athens

Athens

Athens is a grey-skinned demon from the pits of hell itself. He has grey skin; black, reptillian eyes with yellow sclera; long pointed ears; a long nose; a black riddled mop of a haircut; and a spaded tail. Athens normally wears gothic and "emo" clothing solely because he's a fan of it artistically, enjoying the dark colors combining with his grey skin. Demons like Athens bleed a cobolt blue substance named "ether", a name devised by early wiccans who used the substance in their experiments.

Athens had become dissatisfied with the way humans were being tricked, tortured, and treated by his fellow demonkind in the universe and vowed to help and improve as many humans' lives as they possibly could. Being a task that can't be performed easily using traditional demon capabilities (manipulating the minds of the weak-willed, destruction magicks, etc.) Athens realized he would be forced to help people "in person" as it were through good old fashioned helping hands. This obviously makes him not popular with other demons, and especially not with Akahl.

However, the most interesting conundrum is his not poor relationships with his own ilk, but his relationship with the common man. Due to poor human-demon relations (who can blame them) many are quick to dismiss Athens and be reluctant to allow his help for fear that they're falling for an elaborate demonic trick. Being paired with the Star Squad alleviates many people's fears, but only slightly.

Athens is not a Homestuck troll. He gets mad when you call him one. The only thing he knows about it is that the ones that bleed blue are held in high regard, so he pretends that's worth flauting to the people who call him a troll.

Athens was invited to join the Star Squad after his supernatural capabilities and altruistic nature was made known to them. He acts as the moral center of the group.

Screenheads and Caretakers

Screenheads and Caretakers is a science fantasy universe wherein global environmental changes have caused humanity's status as a majority race to besuperceded by a race of artificial intelligences known as Solonoids (a portmanteau of solo and android, and a play on the term solenoid.) Solonoids were designed as a way to repurpose old electronics into new bodies for burgeoning artificial intelligence projects that wanted a way to explore the physical world. As the human population declined, solonoids found themselves becoming more and more accepted until they were the rule instead of the exception.

The Screenheads 'verse is a used future look with schizo tech creeping into the cracks. Primarily, works in this verse focus on an unnamed urban area in the eastern United States. Smog paints dreary colors on the skyline and a governmental collapse has caused anarcho-capitalistic protection rackets to appear in droves. Information and professionals have been lost to time causing a widespread knowledge brownout of sorts. Poor and struggling solonoids which rely on out-of-print parts found factories across the globe suddenly picking up production on parts that were previously out of date.

A typical solonoid body consists of the body, usually made up of a classic computer "tower" with all the trappings; limbs, sets of motors, servos, and steel that the solonoid uses to manipulate the outside world; the head, traditionally a monitor with a webcam to allow the 'noid to display emotion and reaction but not always; and the Consciousness Database, a hard drive sort of mechanism that can "think" based on the input it is provided and provide dynamic, intelligent outputs based on the request and experiences. The Consciousness Database can survive without full power to allow it to be reinserted into new chassis, but common courtesy dictates that disabling one's CD for any reason without consent is murder.

Due to their culture being influenced by human culture for so long, solonoids tend to gravitate towards more "personable" appearances. While bodies with multiple limbs, no heads, and stripped bodies will be used in businesses for pragmatic reasons, they are rarely used by people in their daily lives. Part of this is due to their adoption of human fasion. In addition to clothing in general being used to beautify, solonoids will also replace and repaint their individual body parts to chase trends. Those who do tend to go for the non-humanoid appearances can be considered similar to the body modding culture for solonoids.

Gravis

Gravis

Gravis is a 120kg Solonoid running a Pentium II Processor with 512MB of RAM. His head is a 10" CRT monitor with an SXGA resolution (1280 x 1024), and his eye is a 640x480 digital webcam running at 30fps. His front panel features one 5.25" floppy drive, one 3.5" floppy drive, a 16x speed DVD-ROM optical drive, and two USB 2.0 ports. Permanently attatched to his parallel port is the Black Box™, a dongle which contains both his Consciousness Database, and the namesake black box library that exposes functions Gravis can call upon to perform some complex logical processes. Gravis's frame is made up primarily of a steel piping material which makes his hollow frame light and movable despite his low-power servos and motors.

Gravis has an unknown past due to a run-in with the mafia wherein the Black Box™ was thrown into a river in an attempt to short and destroy it. Gravis's life was saved by Akio, who discovered Gravis in the river, fished him out, and built his new body. Since that moment, Gravis has indebted himself to Akio and the two have formed an inseparable bond.

Gravis's underpowered body has caused him to develop self-esteem issues. As a result, Gravis tends to wear long clothing most of the time to hide his aging electronics from the world. Gravis underclocks his CPU to prevent fires and sudden shutdowns due to the clothing interfering with his case-body's exhaust design, and will remove his upperwear when situations requiring heavy processing power arise (like the Black Box™.) His personality tends to be aloof and shy due to this.

Thanks to the Black Box™, Gravis and Akio founded the G&A Detective Agency outside of Akio's workshop to help pay bills and fund repairs for Gravis's body when the needs arise.

Miskit

Miskit

Miskit is the most straightforwardly sexual of all of the Lesser Gods. Officially, her title is God of Lust and Pleasure, and one could be forgiven for interpereting that as "The Fuck God", but realistically any sort of pleasure that can be derived is subject to the whims of Miskit. For followers, any interest can be evolved into a fervent desire, and a fervent desire can give way to a debilitating addiction.

Visually, Miskit takes the form of a tall purple cat with lanky appendages and multiple facial features. The exact number varies from time to time, resulting in an effect that appears like someone froze a cartoon in the middle of a smear frame, and then that frame started moving like it was the design all along. Her torso is a strange tube-like system - visually similar to a dress - that expands and contracts to change her height at will, and the exact length of her arms and legs is often just "however long they need to be."

Miskit's main source of power is sex. Any form of coitus will give her strength, but the more the intercourse is intertwined with pure pleasure, the more powerful Miskit's influence can be. The sliding scale goes somewhere from "Sex in the missionary position for the sole purpose of procreation" to "Removing one's brain, hooking it up to the internet, and downloading all the porn, forever." The same goes for pure pleasure, though care needs to be taken into how this is achieved. While one might think drug junkies would be very beneficial to Miskit, that's not the case due to tolerance - The pleasure derived from the substance abuse is the same despite the dosage increase. Real addiction is purely psychological: Needing more just because what you have could be better. Seeing just how deep the rabbit hole can go. When one fully gives into hedonistic desires, that's when Miskit will pay you a visit.

Obviously, Miskit has a lot of followers hoping to get in on carnal acts. Sex is a great motivator. Followers of Miskit will celebrate her glory through sexual activity, especially orgies. They have also been known to have high quality feasts and concerts to satiate the pleasures of their other senses as well. Incense and spices are also common, and more refined and dedicated followers are known to collect abstract art pieces.

One should not rashly consider all sexual situations to be in the realm of Miskit. A person seeking to satiate another's desires would fall more under the pursuit of perfection, the domain of Akahl. Pleasure derived from greediness or excess would fall more in line with Lorbo's modus operandi. Of course, with all the Lesser Gods, there is some overlap between them.
